CAMO Software Australia and New Zealand Presents

An Introduction to Multivariate Analysis and Design of Experiments for Research and Process Applications.

March 9 - 11, Melbourne

Multivariate Analysis (sometimes called Chemometrics, when applied to chemical problems) is a set of tools for rapidly designing and analysing complex data sets. These tools provide a graphical means of looking at the relationships between experimental or process variables and their interactions and the information obtained can be used to guide the next steps in an experimental strategy.

Many industries and research centres have been utilising the power of experimental design to effectively and efficiently gain the most amount of information from the least amount of experimental effort. These designs, along with multivariate analysis tools such as Principal Components Analysis (PCA) allow development scientists to better understand their data and obtain much greater insights than current One Variable At A Time (OVAT) strategies.

This short seminar will provide an introduction to multivariate analysis and the concepts will be illustrated with relevant examples generated using The Unscrambler software package. The topics to be included are:

  • The world is multivariate - Introduction to multivariate data modeling
Principles and applications of Principal Component Analysis (PCA)
Multivariate regression: Multi Linear Regression (MLR), Principal Component Regression (PCR), Partial Least Squares (PLS)
    Multivariate modeling step by step
    Pretreatment and scaling
    Detecting and dealing with Outliers
    Calibration Development
    Validation methods
    Prediction
Basic rules for successful data analysis
